Day 3Historical sites of Phnom Penh - Sunset Cruise on Tonle Sap River

Breakfast at hotel. Drive to visit the “Killing Fields” of Choeng Ek (15 km south of Phnom Penh). Between 1975 and 1978 about 17,000 men, women, children and infants (including nine westerners) were detained and tortured at the S-21 prison and transported to extermination camp of Choeng Ek and followed by visiting to Independence monument for photo shooting and Psa Thmey market.  Afternoon, visit Tuol Sleng Museum (S-21 prison). This former school was used as a prison by Pol Pot’s security forces. More than 17,000 people held at S-21 were taken to the extermination camp at Choeng Ek to be executed. Then Visit Russian Market (Toul Tumpong Market), the Market has gained reputation for cheap clothing, a large selection of Buddha images and woodcarvings, betel-nut boxes, silk, silver jewelry, and classic music instrument. Enjoy Sunset Cruise on the Tonle Sap and Mekong Rivers in Phnom Penh, it bursts into 4 branches.  Overnight in Phnom Penh

Arrive in Kratie, where you will take the local ferry to Koh Trong Island – an island situated in the middle of the Mekong River directly opposite Kratie Town. A 9km loop road around the island’s perimeter provides opportunities for visitors to leisurely by bicycle ride through traditional Khmer villages, fruits orchards and rice fields while observing the daily rituals and routines of traditional village life. Heading north to the top of the island, you will turn left and head inland. Not far along this path you will come across a Wat Ty Pram Kbal Pagoda.

Lunch at homestay at Koh Trong Island. After lunch take the local ferry to Kratie and then transfer to Prek Kampi for the boat cruise on the Mekong River where you will get on a local boat to catch glimpses of the rare Mekong River Dolphins, also known as the “Irrawaddy Dolphins”, a rare species only found in Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia… And if you are very lucky, you may spot a dolphin tail.

Day 6Kratie to Siem Reap via Kampong Thom, Explore the gateway to the Angkor temple complex

Day 7Visit Kbal Spean - Bantey Srey - Kulen mountain

After breakfast, drive through country side towards Kbal Spean, “River of a Thousand Lingas”. then walk through the forest (45 minutes) t ward the symbol of the Hindu god Siva has been continually chiseled into the rocky riverbed. It was believed that the linga fertilized the water that irrigated the rice fields underneath. Return to Siem Reap, on the way, visit the famous temple of Bantey Srey “the Citadel of Women”. This small pink sandstone temple (late 10th century) is considered to be the jewel in the crown of classical Khmer art because of its delicate carvings. Continue the road to Kulen mountain range and followed by a visit to the marvelously restored Bantey Samre temple (mid 12th century). Overnight in Siem Reap.

Today you’ll wake up early to see the spectacular sunrise over Angkor Wat. Then return to the hotel for breakfast before heading back to the Angkor area for the day. Begin at the ancient ruins of the South Gate of Angkor Thom, famous for the huge stone faces lining the path to the entrance.

One within Angkor Thom’s gates, explore several temples, like the Buddhist Bayon Temple, the Royal Palace, and the Kleang-style Hindu temple Phimeanakas. As you walk through the complex, you’ll encounter decorative terraces like the Elephant Terrace, decorated with carvings of the animal, and the Terrace of the Leper King, named for a statue of Darmaraja, a king who had leprosy, found on-site.

Of course, you’ll have plenty of time to explore Angor Wat itself. Built in the 12th century, the temple complex sprawls over about 518 acres (210 ha) of land, making it the largest religious monument in the world. 

Afterward, you’ll visit the famous jungle-covered temple of Ta Prohm. Here enormous fig trees and gigantic creepers have woven themselves into the stone foundations of the structure, giving the impression that the powerful forces of nature are reclaiming the temple.

Day 9Explore Tonle Sap lake - the Roluos Group

Breakfast at the hotel – Tonle sap where we will enjoy a boat ride (private boat and guide) on the Tonle Sap lake. This is the largest permanent fresh-water lake in South East Asia and flows into Tonle Sap River, joining the Mekong in Phnom Penh. We will see a fishermen’s “floating village” with floatting schools, floatting police station, etc. It is same as a big village floatting on the lake, and the “village” move from place to place following water levels and curant. Afternoon, Visit the Roluos Group. The monuments of Rolous, which served as the capital of Indravarman I (reigned 877-89. Preah Ko erected by Indravarman I in the late 9th century dedicated by the King to his ancestors in 880. Bakong the largest and most interesting of the Roluos group temples, with his active Buddhist monastery just to the north of the east entrance. Lolei built on an islet in the center of a large reservoir (now rice fields) by Yasovarman I, the founder to the first city at Angkor. Overnight in Siem Reap.

Do I need to make a deposit? What is the payment process for my booking?

You will be required to pay a deposit when booking with Responsible Asia. The deposit will be 10% of the full payment. All deposits are non-refundable. Final payment is required no later than 30 days prior to departure unless otherwise stated. Some airfares or services must be paid in full at the time of booking.

What is your cancellation policy?

We would deeply regret your decision to cancel your trip to Vietnam and Indochina; however, we realize that there are many reasons for this event.
In the event of cancellation, we will refund any payment made to Responsible Asia Asia given that a cancellation fee is applicable.
The cancellation fee will be calculated as follows:
+ 60 days prior to arrival date: No cancellation charge. We Guarantee 100% Money Back. + Airfare cancellation fees (according to the airline’s cancellation policy) if any
+ 59 – 30 days prior to arrival date: 5% cancellation charge. + Airfare cancellation fees (according to the airline’s cancellation policy) if any

Can I change itinerary?

Alterations to your itinerary before the booking is processed are happily processed free of charge. We want to provide the best tour possible for you. Alterations after you have received your booking confirmation letter will attract a fee of $10 USD per request.
Realistic Asia reserves the right to modify the itinerary of the tour if air schedule or surface transportation changes, and/or events beyond its control make such alteration necessary. In this event, any of the increase or reduction of the tour cost will be calculated and charged accordingly. If the tour is to be changed at the request of the client(s), the client will be required to pay any additional cost in advance.

What travel documentations should I prepare for my trip?

All clients must be in possession of a valid passport and necessary visas or permits at the commencement of travel. All such documentation is the sole responsibility of the client. Your travel advisor may assist you in applying for the necessary travel documentation upon request. Responsible Asia accepts no responsibility or liability whatsoever for the failure of clients to obtain appropriate documentation.
 

How I can make complaints and claims if any problems during my trip?

For dissatisfaction with any service Responsible Asia has provided, please notify your local tour guide or your travel advisor immediately to avoid the potential for similar problems happening again during your trip.
In the event of a complaint or claim for compensation, you must inform us by email, regular mail, or facsimile in writing within 15 days from the end of your tour. Relevant receipts and substantiating evidence must be attached to the letter of claim. Responsible Asia will not be liable for any claims made later than 15 days after the completion of your tour.
