Self – Guided Day in Hanoi
Next, take a short drive to Moc Village, where Mrs. Chin will teach you how to cook Vietnamese dishes that you’ll enjoy for lunch in her tropical garden. Join Mrs. Chin for a walk around the village to visit families and learn how to make tofu, conical hats, and other regional products. Finish with an easy cycle through Vietnam’s iconic rice paddies, followed by a Muong herbal foot bath, before returning to Hanoi.
Sapa is a mountain retreat and former French colonial garrison, surrounded by lush green mountains and rice terraces. Breathe in the cool alpine air while wandering the town’s steep streets, stopping to buy handicrafts made by local Hmong women wearing bright, colorful traditional clothing, or pausing at a café for a cup of Vietnamese coffee.
Self – Guided Day in Sapa
You can also tour Sapa Museum to learn about the history and culture of this remote region. Take some time to relax with a cup of Vietnamese coffee in a café overlooking the rice terraces or ride the cable car to Vietnam’s highest peak, Fansipan, for panoramic views of the area’s UNESCO-listed landscape.
Your journey continues to Ta Van Giay Village and along the Muong Hoa River, where you’ll cross a suspension bridge and discover fascinating rock engravings. Have lunch in a local restaurant and then continue trekking through a bamboo forest to Giang Ta Chai, a Red Dao village. There’s time to rest near a waterfall before climbing back up to the road, where a car will be waiting to take you back to Sapa.
Today you’ll visit some of the isolated villages surrounding Sapa. Start with a 5-mile (8 km) drive to the O Quy Ho Mountain Pass in the Hoang Lien Son mountain range, where you’ll make several stops to admire views of Mount Fansipan and the Sin Chai Valley. From there, you’ll pass forests and waterfalls as you make your way to Ban Khoang Commune, which is home to the Black Hmong and Red Dao ethnic groups.
Take a guided village walk to learn about rural life and then drive to the Ta Giang Phinh Valley, where the Black Hmong people live in riverside hamlets. Enjoy lunch by the water and a two-hour walk through wild scenery. You’ll spot locals plowing the fields, harvesting crops, and selling handicrafts in village markets. Your driver will take you back to Sapa mid-afternoon.

Upon arrival at the marina, you’ll board a multi-level cruise ship for an overnight tour of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. After settling into your cabin, head up to the deck, where a delicious seafood lunch awaits. Then you can spend hours relaxing on the sun deck as the ship sails across glassy emerald waters to the most secluded corners of the bay. Later that afternoon, you’ll stop at a secret cove for a swim and a kayak trip to explore hidden beaches and grottoes.
Return to the ship just in time to participate in a cooking masterclass offered by the onboard expert chef. During the workshop, you’ll learn to make traditional specialties like nem (Vietnamese fried spring rolls) and enjoy them for dinner. Spend the remainder of the evening relaxing, or head out on a small boat for a bit of night fishing with the locals.
Upon arrival at the airport in Ho Chi Minh City, the driver will meet you, holding a signboard with your name, and take you to your hotel by private car.
Visit workshops along the river where Mekong residents produce coconut candy, activated charcoal, and coconut husk brooms. Explore a village by Xe Loi, a motorized rickshaw used by locals. You’ll also get the chance to kayak through the canals to experience the beauty of the Mekong River and observe rural life.
Have lunch at a local restaurant before continuing your Mekong Delta tour. You’ll cycle along village roads, past farmers and kids returning from school. Take time to relax on the riverbank, joining villagers as they fish and cook. The day ends with a transfer back to your hotel in Can Tho.
Can Tho – Visiting Cai Rang floating market
Don’t miss the opportunity to taste Vietnamese vermicelli soup from one of the vendors and learn how to barter for fruit. There’s time to dock and wander around a village on the riverbank, where you’ll cross a typical Mekong Monkey Bridge, built with just a single bamboo stem. The tour finishes with an orchard visit and a riverside lunch.
